Windows 10 Backup – On A Schedule!

As we mentioned in our previous blog post, the #1 rule of backups is ‘having a backup!’ And you don’t need special backup software to do it 🙂

So let’s dig in a little further on how to setup Windows 10’s backup feature on a schedule to either a USB stick or man external hard drive.

Windows Backup using File History

1. Connect your USB stick or external hard drive to your computer

2. Click the Windows button (Start Menu) and start typing in Backup. You should see Backup settings — click it.

2. Click Add a drive

3. Select the drive that matches your stick/external drive

4. Now click More options in blue

In here, you can either Back up now (why Microsoft splits the word backup sometimes, yet not others, we’re not sure :P) or you can change the settings as far as the backup frequency, how long the backups should be kept and what folders is should or shouldn’t be backing up.

We recommend the following:

Back up my files: Every day or every week

Keep my backups: Until space is needed.

That’s all there is to it!
